The Lower Paxton Township dealer is looking to acquire an additional 2 acres near its Jonestown Road facility, President Earl Hoffman Jr. said this week.
“We’re looking for big sales. We (have) got to expand,” he said.
The Ford dealer reported $55.2 million in revenue last year, according to Business Journal records. The company grew revenue 26.9 percent over the last three years, making it one of the region’s fastest-growing companies.
The additional space could be used for truck sales and more customer parking, Hoffman said. He said he hopes to be able to add on in the coming year.
With the U.S. auto industry in rebound mode the last three years, Hoffman Ford has averaged about 90 new and 50 used car sales per month.
“As the market gets strong, we pick up,” Hoffman said.
Ford Motor Co. sales were up 5.3 percent through September compared with the same nine-month period a year ago, according to New Jersey-based Autodata Corp. Analysts are predicting that U.S. auto sales will come in around 15 million this year — back near prerecession levels.
Hoffman added 7,000 square feet of service bays last year in response to increased demand. In 2007, Harrisburg-based Sutliff Auto Group ended its relationship with Ford, which drove service demand, Hoffman said.
“I think activity will continue to increase unless there is some outside influence,” he said.
