PinnacleHealth officials joined representatives from architectural firm BL Companies of Camp Hill on Monday to present their proposal to the Annville Township commissioners.

The health care provider recently purchased Annville Family Medicine on North Weber Street and plans to expand the practice by moving it to the Annville East Center at 1251 E. Main St. The former retail center would have two expansions under the proposal, growing it by 11,400 square feet. The plan also includes a 420-space parking lot.

A 2012 community health needs assessment by PinnacleHealth in Lebanon County revealed that more primary care physicians were needed in the area. Just over 28 percent of county residents surveyed said they did not have a doctor. Also, Lebanon County’s senior population totals 17 percent, slightly higher than the state average.

The expanded practice would grow from eight physicians and two advanced practitioners to 15 practitioners, allowing it to serve as many as 10,000 more patients in the area. The facility will add imaging services and a laboratory in the future.

“PinnacleHealth is pleased to bring expanded and comprehensive outpatient healthcare to the Lebanon County residents,” said Michael A. Young, president and CEO. The facility will “offer patients the added convenience of having diagnostic testing and specialists onsite for better coordination of care.”

Work on the expansion will begin this summer and is expected to be completed by summer 2016.

The plan is now awaiting a vote by the township’s planning commission and would have to be approved by the township commissioners.
