Pittsburgh-based Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, which has an office in downtown Harrisburg, named Joseph A. Dougherty as CEO-elect. He will start a three-year term as CEO in June 2016.

Dougherty currently is managing shareholder of the firm’s Philadelphia office. He will succeed John “Jack” A. Barbour, the current CEO, managing director and chairman of the board. Barbour will become executive chairman.

As executive chairman, Barbour will maintain client relationships and provide business and legal counsel. Under his watch, Buchanan merged with Fowler White Boggs of Florida in 2014, one of the year’s biggest law-firm mergers.
