Deloitte inks large office lease in downtown Harrisburg
Listen to this articleDeloitte, one of the big four global accounting firms, has inked a deal to occupy the entire eighth floor at 30 N. Third St. That amounts to 20,000 square feet, according to Bill Gladstone, leasing agent with NAI CIR.
About 200 Deloitte employees from Deloitte Consulting and Deloitte Advisory will work in the downtown Harrisburg office building, which is also a new local home for Xerox.
Deloitte has local operations in East Pennsboro Township. Some will be relocated, according to a company spokeswoman. “The move downtown enables us to be closer to our clients,” said Jane Broski.
The space at 30 N. Third is being built out now, said Sue Gundermann, property manager with Kennedy Wilson Properties, with occupancy expected in January.
After the Deloitte lease, the building has about 40,000 square feet of space remaining, she said.
“I think it’s location driven, being it’s the state capital,” she said of the recent uptick in downtown activity.
Indeed, for financial services businesses and those that work heavily in government, a downtown location is almost essential, Gladstone said. Xerox moved downtown from the Harrisburg suburbs to be closer to state government.
