The company will offer introductory one-way fares for as low as $42, according to a news release.

“Myrtle Beach is one of central Pennsylvania’s most popular golf, beach and family destinations,” Timothy J. Edwards, Harrisburg International Airport executive director stated in the news release. “However until today, it required at least an eight hour drive each way on congested highways.”

The new Allegiant nonstop service is now less than two hours.

The flights will operate twice weekly, the news release states, and expand on routes Allegiant currently runs from HIA to three Florida destinations: Orlando/Sanford, Punta Gorda/Fort Myers and Tampa Bay.

Allegiant is based in Las Vegas and has more than 300 routes throughout the country.
