Lundblad, who starts Oct. 3, was chief legal and administrative officer at Susquehanna Bancshares Inc. through completion of its acquisition by BB&T Corp.

He has been working since as an independent business consultant, and currently serves as an adviser to nonprofit Hope International, a nonprofit micro-lending organization that follows business principles based on the Bible.

“Carl’s financial, strategic and organizational expertise, coupled with his energy and mission-driven approach to leadership make him the right person to lead Ten Thousand Villages,” said Ann Batlle, acting chair of the board at Akron-based Ten Thousand Villages.

The nonprofit retailer operates a network of 75 stores that sell artisan-crafted gifts, home decor, jewelry and personal accessories made around the world.

“I look forward to working with the board and leadership team of Ten Thousand Villages to build a sustainable retail organization that supports and empowers independent artisans around the globe,” Lundblad said. “Villages holds a special place as a pioneer in the fair trade movement and I am excited to contribute to efforts to ensure that this mission continues.”
