The organization, SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon chapter, was named SCORE chapter of the year as part of 2018 National Small Business Week.

SCORE, formerly known as Service Corps Of Retired Executives, provides free business mentoring services to small-business owners. Volunteer mentors are active and retired business executives and entrepreneurs.

“It’s great to see our district resource partner, the SCORE Lancaster-Lebanon Chapter, being recognized for their great work and the assistance they provide to help small businesses thrive. This is an outstanding win for Chapter President Robert Bewley and his dedicated volunteer mentors, but as with all of our resource partners, the real winners are the entrepreneurs our resource partners help to achieve small business success,” Antonio Leta, director of the Eastern Pennsylvania District Small Business Administration, said in a statement.

Among the SBA’s national award winners, one other is from Pennsylvania. Chatham University’s Women’s Business Center in Pittsburgh was named Women’s Business Center of the Year.

Awardees will be honored at ceremonies in Washington, D.C., on April 29-30, the Small Business Administration said.

National Small Business Week is set to run this year from April 29 to May 5, with national events planned in Washington, D.C., Florida, South Carolina and North Carolina.

National Small Business Week has been celebrated each year since 1963.
