Carroll Township-based Leer Electric Inc. announced that Anthony Leer, Jared Leer and Jeff Metzler have purchased the company from longtime owner Steve Leer, who has retired after 45 years.

The deal was completed in March. Terms were not disclosed.

Anthony, 38, and Jared, 34, are Steve’s nephews and have been around the business most of their lives. Anthony was operations manager and has moved into the role of president, while Jared is keeping his title as field superintendent.

Metzler, 39, is the company’s director of sales and marketing and will continue in that role. He has been working full time for the company since 2001.

Leer focuses primarily on commercial and industrial construction, including electrical work for office, retail and manufacturing projects. The company also does residential service and telecommunications work.

Leer, which has grown to about 70 employees, covers most of Central Pennsylvania. It also does work in Maryland.

Metzler said there are no plans to move the company out of the Dillsburg area. He said the new owners intend to focus on extending Leer’s footprint and attracting new commercial clients.

“Some of it is just where the customers take us,” Metzler said. “We’ve been trying to do more work in Maryland.”

Leer finished last year with nearly $13.7 million in revenue. The new owners are hoping to build on that as the economy continues to improve and new construction projects ramp up.

“There is definitely a lot of work out there to bid,” Metzler said.
