The Silver Spring Township-based business founded by Albert Sarvis and Jason Minick, dubbed Aerial Content Group LLC, expects to provide a variety of drone services, including traditional commercial aerial photography and video. Other services include: 3D modeling and visualization, large aerial photo mosaics and thermal imaging.

Sarvis, the director of geospatial technology at Harrisburg University of Science and Technology, met Minick, owner of Minick Photography LLC, about 10 years ago. The two men connected over their mutual interest in photography.

“We quickly realized that by combining our core skills — photography/videography and geospatial analysis — we could provide a much broader yet unique range of services with a streamlined workflow,” Minick said. “While the business applications are varied, the industries that have been quick to adopt use of the technology are construction, commercial real estate, business marketing, agriculture and infrastructure.”

Sarvis, who is the lead pilot and imagery analyst for the company, has spent more than 20 years focused on geospatial technology, having worked with dozens of state and local governments as well as commercial organizations to build custom map-based business solutions. At Harrisburg University, his team of students helped create a digital inventory of historic maps of abandoned underground coal mines in Pennsylvania.

Minick was chief photographer at The Sentinel newspaper in Carlisle for about eight years before leaving in 2006 to start a commercial photo and video business. He has been in the corporate, commercial and documentary photography and video production for more than 27 years.
