The XPO warehouse is located at 1700 Cloister Drive in East Hempfield Township.

A layoff notice was provided to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry by Jacobson Warehouse Company Inc., which does business as XPO Logistics Supply Chain, a provider of freight transportation and logistics services.

As a result of the closure, some 62 employees will lose their jobs during a 14-day period beginning Sept. 15, according to the layoff notice, which was made under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification, or WARN, Act.

“We’re working to support Lancaster County employees during this transition, which may include a transfer to another site in the area,” a spokesman for XPO Logistics said.

In its WARN notice, XPO said it was closing the warehouse because a customer was moving production to another location.

The company spokesman declined to identify the customer. But XPO’s notice mentions SodaStream International Ltd.a company that manufactures home-carbonation products.

“We believe that these plans, when finalized, will be permanent and will affect the entire SodaStream warehouse facility,” the notice said.

Efforts to reach SodaStream were not successful.

“Various factors may still affect these plans and the timing of employment separations. You will be informed of changes as additional information becomes available,” the filing added.
