The meeting, which will be held at Logos Academy at 250 W. King St. at 6:30 p.m., is the first of several being held, so that the public can learn more about the summit, which is scheduled for Oct. 9 through Oct. 11.

The summit is framed around the rise of technology like artificial intelligence and integrating it into the way people live, work and relate. It also is designed to showcase York County’s industries and innovations, so that investors from the technology world will see the opportunity and growth potential here, said Douglas Knight, senior vice president of culture, marketing and public relations at York Exponential.

Last month, John McElligott, CEO of York Exponential, a business that develops collaborative robotsannounced that the city will play host to an event that is expected to draw between 200 and 400 people into the downtown.

York City will serve as a conference center of sorts, Knight said, noting that events will be held at several areas throughout the downtown. The Strand Theatre at The Appell Center will serve as the hub of the summit.

York’s event will mirror VentureBeat Blueprint, a conference held earlier this year in Reno, Nevada, that connected businesses and entrepreneurs looking to showcase and invest in technology. The event featured speakers from Walmart, Google and Microsoft.

At this point, no other informational meetings have been scheduled, though Knight said more are forthcoming. In the meantime, York Exponential is looking for volunteers to help develop the event, said Knight. Those interested should contact Knight at [email protected].
