Joel Portice is succeeding CEO Joseph Dougher, who is retiring.

Portice brings more than 20 years of leadership experience to his new role at KEPRO, a quality improvement and medical care management provider for government and commercial clients.

Portice began his career by founding two health care companies: Integrity Plus Services, which he sold to UnitedHealth Group, and Enclarity, Inc., which was acquired by LexisNexis, according to a press release.

Portice served most recently as CEO of Florida-based Intermedix Corp., a data analytics and technology provider.

Portice also served as president of government division and corporate development and strategy at HMS Holdings Corp., and before that, was president of Verisk Health, now known as Verscend Technologies.

“Over more than two decades, KEPRO has built a strong franchise renowned for its ability to work in partnership with clients to simultaneously increase efficiency and improve patient outcomes. As the company enters its next phase of growth, I look forward to working with an incredibly talented team to further expand the business and extend our range of offerings,” he said in a statement.

Including its headquarters in Lower Paxton Township, KEPRO also has offices in Alabama, Florida, Illinois, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Ohio, Oregon, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia and more than 1,400 employees, said Jamie Kopko, KEPRO director of corporate communications.

KEPRO was founded in 1985 as a subsidiary of the Pennsylvania Medical Society and sold to a private investment firm in 2014.
