The new 6,050 square-foot store is located at 91 Erford Road. It includes indoor and outdoor seating, a drive-thru and 12 fuel stations. Each new store creates between 25 and 30 new full- and part-time jobs, said Nick Ruffner, public relations manager for the company. Sheetz has more than 18,500 employees company-wide.

The convenience-store chain has more than 580 stores located in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Ohio and North Carolina. All are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

To celebrate the new location, Sheetz is offering free self-serve coffee and soda for a limited time. The new location is also holding some giveaways, which will begin on 10 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 27. Among the prizes is a $1,000 Sheetz gift card. No purchase is necessary to win.

A formal grand-opening ceremony is set for 10:45 a.m., just before the store’s opening at 11 a.m.

Customers attending the ceremony are encouraged to bring in a non-perishable food item to donate to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. With the donation, participants will receive a Sheetz-branded thermal bag, limit one per customer while supplies last from 9 to 11 a.m. Sheetz is also planning to present a $2,500 monetary donation to the food bank as well as a $2,500 to the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania to show its support for its new community.

The new location is one of several companies that have committed to the former Senate Plaza. Starbucks and Comfort Suites have also committed to setting up locations at the site.

Last summer, the vacant six-story plaza was imploded. Developers Triple Crown Corp. and J.C. Bar Properties have been working to redevelop the 16-acre site with fast-food and casual sit-down restaurants as well as smaller retail shops at the site, according to previous reports.
