After nearly 90 years of Sutliff family ownership, the Harrisburg Chevrolet dealership at 1251 Paxton St. is now owned by Turner Automotive Group. New Turner Chevrolet signage already has been going up on the building.

Sutliff Auto Group and Turner completed the deal on Nov. 9. Financial terms were not disclosed. The sale was first announced in the spring.

“I am very proud and humbled that we have been able to complete this agreement to purchase the most respected and iconic automobile dealership in Central Pa. from one of the most respected individuals in the industry, Greg Sutliff,” Lee Turner, president of Turner Automotive Group, said in a statement. Turner also owns Turner Kia in Swatara Township and Turner Buick GMC in Lancaster County.

Turner said the deal will help the company strengthen its presence in the greater Harrisburg area. Turner expects to add 10 to 20 new people between sales staff and technicians over the next year.

For Sutliff, the sale of the Chevrolet dealership does not impact the company’s other dealerships. The Harrisburg company runs a Volkswagen dealership next to the Chevrolet dealership. It also owns Buick GMC and Cadillac dealerships in State College.

Sutliff Auto Group CEO Greg Sutliff, 86, bought back majority control of the Chevrolet dealership in 2014 after a succession plan eroded.

The Sutliff family has run the Chevrolet dealership since 1931. Sutliff Chevrolet was first located at 407 S. Cameron St. before moving in 1948 to its current location at 13th and Paxton streets.
